KUALA LUMPUR: About 5,000 people are expected to attend Suria FM’s Kemuncak Rancak Roadtour concert to be held at Dataran Merdeka on Saturday.
Suria FM chief operating officer Engku Emran Engku Zainal Abidin said 15 artistes would perform at the four-hour open-air concert scheduled to start at 8pm. There is no entrance fee.
He said the concert will be launched by the Federal Territories Minister and would be held in conjunction with the official launch of the 24-hour radio station.

“We completed our road show in Peninsular Malaysia and Kota Kinabalu in Sabah, in September, and the station can now be accessed in every state except Sarawak.
“We have about 500,000 listeners, and with the concert and our roadshows, I hope this figure will increase next year,” he told a press conference at the radio station near here yesterday.
Engku Emran said among the artistes who would be performing were Amy Search, Mawi, Hattan, Bandi Amuk, Erra Fazira, Dayang Nurfaizah, Waheeda, Farawahida, Elyana, Dafi, The Fabulous Catz, Taufik Batisah, Imran Ajmain, M. Nasir and Syed Azmir.
He said Suria FM deejays would also sing and dance to the radio station theme song.
“We want to thank our listeners, and we hope that the public will join us that evening in full force.
“We started with only two frequencies in 2005, but now we can be heard in all states, except Sarawak, playing Malay, English and Indonesian songs,” he added.
Singaporean artiste Imran Ajmain said he was excited about performing on Saturday.
“Suria FM was the first radio station to play my song Sudah tu Suda’ early this year,” he said.
Dayang Nurfaizah said that she would be singing songs from her album, and those wanting to hear her sing live should attend the concert.
